A contemporary artist based in Phoenix, Ellen Nemetz is a member of the eye lounge artist cooperative.
Ellen always had an interest in art. In fact, the educational detour she took when studying Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Wisconsin proved to her that she would rather paint. Ellen was a self-taught artist until moving to Arizona where she studied art in the Maricopa County Community Colleges. There she twice received the League of Innovation Award. Her works are in public and private collections in Europe and the United States.
Ellen’s works have evolved from the strictly realistic to contemporary representationalism. She responds to color and pattern in the natural world and sees it everywhere. Ellen works in oil and acrylics.
